Hand & Upper Extremity

Dr. Leon Benson
Division Head,
Hand & Upper Extremity

The hand and upper-extremity surgeons of NorthShore University HealthSystem strive for clinical excellence using a multidisciplinary, patient-oriented approach to care. Utilizing a broad range of interventions, from complex microsurgery to new and innovative minimally invasive treatments, these surgeons treat a variety of disorders ranging from carpal tunnel syndrome and tennis elbow to fractures and dislocations.

The “upper-extremity” consists of the shoulder, elbow, wrist and hand. Problems in these areas can be the result of injury, disease or repetitive motion and are surprisingly common. Without appropriate treatment, a mild disorder of the upper-extremity may lead to functional impairment, chronic pain and occasionally unsightly deformities. Our hand and upper-extremity surgeons have extensive experience treating both common as well as complicated upper-extremity problems.
